“If you want to live a happy life, tie it to a goal, not to people or things.”

How many times have you tried to set goals to get rid of bad habits but found yourself back to the old ways in just a week?
But wait, I got good news for you: It's not too late you can still work on your goals together and make it more achievable in 2019.
In this blog, I share unique ways you can set goals that you will achieve in 2019.
Focus
The reason why you are not achieving your goals is that you have way too many and most of the time they are not specific enough.
One way you can achieve your goals faster is to just focus on the area of your life that you have neglected in the past and that is more aligned with what you truly want. This doesn't mean that you can't have goals outside that area, but it helps bring more focus and clarity for yourself. For example, if you make the decision to focus on your health, then your goals for this year can be related to excising more, lose weight, quit smoking, eating healthy. You can even break area health down in 3 categories: physical health, mental health, and emotional health and think of 2-3 goals for each of these categories.
Before we get to the exercise, I have created a FREE workbook that you can download right now so you can structure your goals and make more achievable. It doesn't matter if you have goals already or that you haven't written any this exercise can be helpful to you.
Vision
A vision gives you a clear idea of where you want to go and who you want to be as a person.
The study The Gender Gap and Goal-Setting did by Mark Murphy shows that writing goals that are vividly described make you most likely to achieve them. So to make your goals more achievable start by having a vision of your desired self: How do you envision yourself? How do you want to be seen? And what steps do you need to take to achieve that image?
Theme: Area of Growth
What your theme of the year? Where do you want to put your focus on?
What area of your life does need to improve to get close to the person you envision to be? Is that health? Physical health, emotional health or mental health, maybe all 3 categories? Or maybe finance? Relationships? In the workbook, I have written a list of an area you can choose from.
What do you want to improve in that area? For example, If you decide to focus on finance, maybe you want to learn to save money because you envision yourself traveling the world or perhaps a relationship because you neglected your spouse, family or friends and business relationships. Whatever it is keep your vision of self in mind.
What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals. Tweet it
Skills
What skills set do you need to learn now that will help become the person you envision? Is that communication skills? Dancing, speaking? Write down the skills you need to learn to achieve these goals and become the person you envision.
Celebrate small wins
Every step you make towards achieving your goals is a step closer to your desired self. So, celebrate small successes. This will motivate you to continue this journey of growth. So don't forget to mark any small progress you make on your journey. You deserve it.
Now you have a specific amount of goals that are more realistic and purposeful because they are aligned with your vision. As the year goes by you can always explore in different areas of growth. The point is, you have to have a vision of who you want to be, focus, skills and celebrate the small wins.
